Margie Engel, Grants Chair
Florida resident and avid quilter, Margie Engel, writes patterns, magazine articles and books. Once a journalism teacher, she currently teaches quilting, leads a quilt education organization, and is the International Professional Quilters' Association 2009 Teacher of the Year. Her quilts, which have won numerous awards, have been shown regionally and nationally. Margie received the national Jefferson Award for community service as founder and president of EduQuilters, an organization teaching children to quilt. She credits NQA for boosting EduQuilters with a grant. Sewing since age five, Margie switched from clothing to quilting after attending an NQA quilt show where her quilting career was born.
