Do you enjoy encouraging beginning quilters? Do you love quilting?
If so, you should know that the National Quilting Association, Inc. has established the Teacher's Certification program to certify teachers of basic quilt making!
To be certified, you must demonstrate your own quiltmaking skills and classroom organization, as well as your teaching abilities in the areas of quilt design, piecing, appliqué, quilting, quilt finishing, and quilt history. You must be able to perform skills by both hand and machine. For more details, please check What to Expect and How to Apply.
The Program is open to NQA members worldwide. We hope you can't wait to check it out! We'd love to have you join our teaching team.
You are entitled to use the initials NQACT professionally, and to use your status as a Certified Teacher as proof of your competence.
You receive a certificate, a wallet card, and a Certified Teacher's pin.
You enjoy opportunities to teach, lecture, or demonstrate at the annual NQA show.
You belong to a group of quilting teachers who live all across the country.
Your name is included on the list of Certified Teachers posted on this website. Your name will be shared with interested parties who request a list, who may be searching for quilt leaders to assist with special events.
The process of becoming a CT can be an enriching learning experience in itself, encouraging you to examine your techniques, methods, and class organization.
Have you taken classes or workshops from an NQA Certified Teacher? If you have been impressed with the skills taught, the caring atmosphere of the class, or the exemplary teaching skills of the Certified Teacher - why not nominate that CT for the 2014 Certified Teacher of the Year?
To nominate your favorite NQA Certified Teacher, please read the guidelines and nomination form. The deadline for nominations closes on May 1, 2015, but why wait? Reward excellent teaching by nominating a deserving instructor for this honor.
The Certified Teacher of the Year will be recognized at the Annual NQA Quilt Show in LIttle Rock, Arkansas, June 18-20, 2015.
