From the NQA President,

Judy Taylor

My congratulations to all of the winners of the 42nd Annual NQA Quilt Show. Your entries made the show one of our best, so thank you! We know there is a lot of competition out there and we greatly appreciate your support of NQA and our quilt show.

In case you have not heard, we produced a CD of ALL judged quilts this year. The CD works on both a PC and a MAC and it contains more than 900 pictures. Each CD has a full sized picture of the quilt, a photo of its gallery card and between 3-5 close-up shots. All quilts are in their respective categories and you just click on the category you wish to see. It's as easy as that! The CD's order form can be found on the NQA Web site at http://www.nqaquilts.com/ or in the special show issue of the Quilting Quarterly that will be available in July. The cost is $20.00 and please allow approximately 2 weeks for delivery. What a great way to bring the show to your area and share it with your guild members!

If you were not able to attend the show, mark your calendars now for the 43rd Annual NQA Quilt Show, June 14-16, 2012.

Enjoy your summer and have a great Fourth of July!

Until next time, Happy Quilting!

Judy Taylor, President
The National Quilting Association

From the Chapter Chair Coordinator,

Sue Castelli

It's Quilting-Lite Season for NQA Chapters!! Pot Luck dinners under the stars, picnics, ice cream socials and ice cold sweet drinks are on the agendas of many chapters during the summer. Not surprisingly, just a few chapters have a show scheduled for July and none are scheduled for August — see the list below.

CHAPTER SHOWCASE

We are pleased to share the talents of the Endless Mountains Quilt Guild from Sayre, PA (northwest of Scranton, PA) on the Chapter Showcase.

In addition to having a beautiful display on the webpage, they will also have their current Raffle/Opportunity quilt displayed on the Homepage — take a look at this beauty! This chapter is planning for their upcoming show in September which will include a God Bless America traveling quilt exhibit and a Bed Turning of antique and contemporary quilts. Their website (www.emqg.org) contains details about their activities, upcoming show, scholarship program and a unique section called Quilt Stories — it's a great idea for all chapters to consider.

RAFFLE/OPPORTUNITY QUILTS

Any chapter interested in displaying their Raffle/Opportunity Quilt on the NQA's Homepage this fall is welcome to email me and be added to the schedule.

Photos and a few paragraphs about the construction of the quilt and the chapter membership are all that is needed for a month-long display — and it can all be electronically uploaded — no paperwork! Come on — you know you want to show off your quilt — email me at nqachapterc@nqaquilts.org.

From the Member Chairperson,

Lois Arnold

Due to unexpected circumstances, Mary DeRay will be featured in a future Member Spotlight rather than July as previously announced. Our July member in the spotlight is Charlotte Noll of Coral Springs Quilters in Florida. Charlotte loves challenges and has joined many to expand her design and quilting skills. Her work is strongly influenced by her work with glass mosaics and her love of flowers. Be sure to check out her amazing quilts in the Member Spotlight this month! You will be glad you did!

From the Quilting Quarterly Editor,

Barbara Polston

Your Quilting Quarterly team is hard at work to bring you a fabulous Show Special Edition. It should be arriving in your mailboxes in early August. Answer our two part trivia question for your chance to win a show bag and pin. Details will be on page 3. You might miss the popular "show scrapbook" pages. With more winning quilts to cover, we were forced to eliminate this from the Show Special. Never fear! We'll run the Show Scrapbook as a photo essay in an upcoming issue!.

Several folks have asked the question, "Now that we're getting six issues, are you going to change the name of the magazine?" The answer to that is, NO! We believe that The Quilting Quarterly name is well-established and identified with NQA. You'll still see a Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer issue (the quarterly issues.) The fifth issue is your Show Special Edition. The sixth issue will be another special edition and you'll receive that in December. For now, we're keeping the focus of that issue under wraps. Who doesn't like a surprise now and again?

Thanks to everyone who stopped me at the show to say how much they enjoy their membership magazine. Your Quilting Quarterly team sure enjoys putting it together for you. If there's anything special you'd like to see featured, please let us know! You can reach me at editor@nqaquilts.org.
