From the NQA President, Judy Taylor Have you entered the 42nd Annual NQA Quilt Show yet? Pre-registrations are quickly arriving and several classes are almost full. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to take a class (or more) from some of the nation's finest quilt teachers. If you have never attended the NQA Quilt show in Columbus, make this your year! You will have an opportunity to see some of the most spectacular quilts in the country, while networking with your other NQA friends. Remember! The NQA show is the only national show in the country that is NOT juried. That means we accept the first 400 quilts into the show regardless of the quilters experience or expertise. This show is all about sharing our love of quilting with each other, our community of quilters, and the country as well. Don't forget that March 19th is National Quilting Day! Go to the NQA Web site (www.nqaquilts.org) to download the free pattern for this year's quilt, and don't forget to share your quilt projects with us! Until next month - stay warm and happy quilting!
From the Chapter Coordinator, Sue Castelli Happy February - we are now a month closer to Spring! February and March are busy months for upcoming NQA chapter shows - just see the list below! The Member Spotlight this month will focus on the creative talent of member Kathleen Davies from Hillburn, New York. Also, The Cabin Branch Quilt Guild of Woodbridge, Virginia will have a great display on the Chapter Showcase to share with members and visitors to our website. Take advantage of this opportunity to view both of these features on the NQA website! NOTE: The Member Spotlight has some openings on the calendar for the second half of 2011 and the Chapter Showcase has 4 openings remaining for the year. Both of these pages can be reserved by contacting me at nqachapterc@nqaquilts.org.
CONGRATULATIONS! Happy 30th Anniversary to the Annapolis Quilt Guild from Annapolis, Maryland!
ATTENTION CHAPTER REPS: The NQA Homepage will soon have photos of the raffle and/or opportunity quilts made by our chapters. If your chapter has a fund-raising quilt made within the last 12 months by your membership, please contact me if you would like to display it on the NQA Homepage. We need a good quality photo and a brief description of the quilt (ie. how many hands helped create it, who/what benefitted from the funds that were raised, etc.).
LOOKING AHEAD: March 19 is National Quilting Day! Make plans now to join quilters across the country in a day of fellowship and creative community spirit, and don't forget to take photos of smiling faces. This newsletter will have details next month on how these photos can be shared on the NQA website.
