From the NQA President,

Judy Taylor

As we enter this holiday season, I wish to extend to each and every one of you my best wishes for a safe, happy, joyous and stress-free December.  Regardless of how you celebrate, I hope you spend some quality time with your family, friends, and especially your quilting friends.  No matter where we are from, we share a common language,  a bond, and joy of all things quilting.  It's during this time of year, I reflect on the blessings in my life, the happiness and joy that quilting has brought me, the friends I have made, and the anticipation of what next year will bring. What better way to spend a cold evening than to curl up with a warm and soft quilt -- that you made.

Speaking of anticipation for things next year -

  • Remember, we are still looking for nominees to serve on the NQA Board of Directors for 2010-2011.  Look for information in the Winter issue of The Quilting Quarterly.

  • Register for classes during the NQA Quilt Show. Remember, some classes fill very quickly, and you don't want to miss out.

  • It's not a quilt show without quilts, so if you have not already started working on your entry, now's the time to get your creative juices flowing and make the quilt you've always wanted to make!

  • The Winter issue of The Quilting Quarterly will contain a membership survey.  PLEASE complete this brief form and return it to the NQA office.   The information obtained will be vital to our long- term planning.

From the Chapter Coordinator,

Sue Castelli

Hi everyone!  This email is to request your participation with the first Open Show 'n Tell on the NQA Website. This feature is in place of a Chapter Showcase for the months of November and December.  The objective is to offer a place on the NQA Web site to display a max of 2 quilts, with a brief description of why it was made, who is the lucky recipient, etc.

We are offering this feature not only to NQA members, but also to members of any NQA Chapter. The Website has the link to the registration page (registration is required for security - nothing else), and we have provided the upload instructions on the site as as well.

We have photos on the site now, and we'd welcome your additions, so please dig out a quilt that you are fond of, take a digital pix and upload it to us.  My thanks, in advance, for your willingness to participate in this first-time feature.

P.S. - Also, during December, we will have a beautiful display of quilts on the Member Spotlight page from Nancy Brieschke from IL.  Take time to see her beautiful work.

Edie Richmond Dyke Named NQA Historian

NQA is very pleased to announce that Edie Richmond Dyke has accepted the position of NQA Historian. Edie is an NQA Certified Judge and served as the NQA President from 1995 to 1996.  She lives in Toledo, OH.

If any chapter or chapter member has information pertaining to the history of NQA that you would like to donate, copy or provide to us, please forward it to the NQA office.  We are very excited to have Edie join our team, and we look forward with excitement and anticipation to having our records organized in a permanent collection.

From the Quilting Quarterly Editor,

Barbara Polston

Your Winter edition of The Quilting Quarterly will arrive in your mailbox this month.  The issue is packed with NQA News and great features...and the best part, it includes the 2011 Show Catalogue.  Look at page 3 for your chance to win a prize! Share your favorite NQA memory by March 1, 2011 and be entered to win a "Now You're Cooking" prize package.  Memories must relate to quilting and NQA, be no more than 100 words, and include your name, city amd state.  Memories, which may be published in a future issue, should be sent to editor@nqaquilts.org.  Remember, we're always on the lookout for your patterns and articles to share with our members.  If you have an idea and would like to explore being published, contact Barbara Polston, Editor, at editor@nqaquilts.org. or 480-961-5177 (Phoenix, AZ).
